Melvyn Evans Superbly guided his S11 on 4 events and a new S12B on 1 event to a dominant win in the MSA Asphalt Championship. Winning theTtour of Epynt rally outright by nearly 2 minutes and easily winning the National section of the Circuit of Ireland Evans worked hard for a 2nd place on a tough and challenging Manx rally behind the focus of Paul Bird and Ian Windress. The next stop was the Jim Clark Memorial Rally based in Kelso Scotland where Evans went on to win the national section with ease after he swept pre-event favourites Andy Fenwick/Lee Tindall apart. Now for the 1st time the crews faced a tough trip to Ireland for the slippy Sligo rally. Evans held on to 4th place, maximum points, a record 125 points and 5 out of 5 wins the most amount of points that can possibly be amassed in the championship with best 5 to score and then more importantly the crown of MSA Asphalt rally Champion!
Lampeter and District Motor Club Chairman Justin Jones had a few words to say:
I would like to congratulate Melvyn and the team on his success in the Asphalt championship this year, not only is he able to prepare cars to the highest of standards he can drive them to the limit as well . "This year Melvyn has put LDMC on the map in all parts of the British isle and Ireland which for a small club like Lampeter’s makes us very proud, and with a few crews doing very well in other championships it looks like it’s going to be a good year for LDMC"
Melvyn Would like to thank Crown security group and Kumho Tyres and to everyone who helped with the succesful year! |
